Dont miss our Deep Dive: "Your Cloud Sustainability Numbers Are Wrong - Here's How to Fix Them"

Time: 2:40 - 3:25 PM

Speakers

  • Guillaume Michalag, Head of Security and Integrations, Exoscale – member of A1 Digital
  • Simon Shillaker, PhD, Senior Software Engineer, Exoscale – member of A1 Digital

Abstract: Most large organizations now include cloud services in their sustainability reporting. Far fewer can explain how those numbers were calculated, what methodology sits behind them, or whether they mean the same thing as a competitor's numbers.

In this session, Guillaume Michalag and Simon Shillaker walk through what it takes to rigorously measure the environmental footprint of cloud infrastructure. Drawing on their experience building lifecycle assessment tooling for cloud services, and developing the ADEME Product Category Rules, they explain why cloud emissions are much harder to measure than they appear. They also cover what a defensible methodology looks like, and what open-source tools can be used to roll out a compliant solution quickly.

They will paint an honest picture of the gap between what providers claim and what customers can verify, helping you to ask better questions about your own infrastructure.
