For suppliers and service providers in the automotive industry, the TISAX label is considered an indispensable mark of trust. As an experienced TISAX consultant, A1 Digital guides you through the assessment process.
Is your company in the automotive industry? Do many of your contracts depend on the TISAX certification? TISAX (Trusted Information Security Assessment Exchange) is the automotive industry’s mandatory information security standard and an important gateway to OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers. The assessment verifies whether your information security management system (ISMS) meets the requirements of the VDA-ISA catalog.
As experienced TISAX consultants, our security experts know how your company can establish an ISMS and efficiently pass the TISAX assessment to remain competitive and secure.
Our TISAX consulting services are based on proven experience from projects in the automotive industry.
We provide consulting on business processes, TISAX compliance, IT architecture, and technical implementation. This allows us to identify gaps early on.
As TISAX consultants, we guide you through the entire process—from the initial gap analysis, through action planning and the mock audit, to TISAX audit consulting.
If you do not have an in-house information security officer, you can appoint one of our consultants as an external CISO.
Companies that supply components, systems, or materials to automakers or their suppliers, as Tier 1, Tier 2, or Tier 3 suppliers.
Companies that provide IT systems, software, or digital services to OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers and, in doing so, have access to sensitive customer data.
Companies that collaborate on vehicle projects and process design data, development documents, or technical specifications in the process.
Companies that work with vehicle prototypes (either physically or digitally) and are therefore subject to the specific TISAX audit objectives for prototype protection.
Companies that wish to become partners with an automaker for the first time and are required to demonstrate TISAX certification as part of the supplier qualification process.
We familiarize ourselves with your company, including its locations, data classes, existing security structures, and your clients’ requirements. Based on this information, we determine which TISAX audit objectives and which assessment level are relevant for you. The assessment level then determines the intensity of the audit conducted by the audit service provider.
We systematically assess your current status against the latest VDA-ISA catalog. You will receive a clear overview of which requirements your existing ISMS already meets and where specific action is needed.
A functioning ISMS is a prerequisite for any TISAX assessment. We’ll work with you to establish one or adapt your existing system to meet TISAX requirements. The result is a prioritized action plan tailored to your available resources.
An ISMS only works if your employees are familiar with and comply with the security policies. We facilitate TISAX training for your team and ensure that information security becomes part of your company’s daily operations.
Before you begin the formal assessment with an accredited ENX audit service provider, we conduct an internal mock audit. This allows us to identify any remaining gaps while there is still time to make corrections.
We will be at your side throughout the audit as your dedicated point of contact. Our TISAX audit consulting services do not end until the certification is granted.
TISAX stands for Trusted Information Security Assessment Exchange and is the mandatory information security standard for the automotive industry. It was developed by the VDA (German Association of the Automotive Industry) and specifies how companies must handle sensitive customer data. Any company acting as a supplier, IT service provider, or development partner for automotive manufacturers must have a valid TISAX certification. Without this certification, collaboration with OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers is generally not possible.
The process consists of four steps. First, you register as a participant with the ENX Association and define your assessment scope. Then, you select an accredited assessment service provider and undergo the actual assessment based on the VDA-ISA catalog. Once you have passed the assessment, your result is published on the TISAX platform and can be shared with business partners. Depending on the size of your company, the entire preparation process takes between six and eighteen months. TISAX Consulting ensures that the process runs efficiently.
The costs consist of several components. The registration fee with the ENX Association is currently 405 euros per location. Added to this are the costs for the audit service provider, which vary depending on the size of the company, the number of locations, and the selected audit objectives. External consulting costs for preparation vary depending on the initial situation. A TISAX consulting firm can help you realistically plan the effort involved and avoid unnecessary cost drivers.
A TISAX label is valid for three years. After that, a reassessment is required to maintain TISAX certification. If minor nonconformities are identified during the initial assessment, a temporary label may be issued. This label is valid for nine months and gives companies time to address the outstanding issues. This is followed by a follow-up assessment to confirm full compliance.
Both standards address information security but have different objectives. ISO 27001 is a cross-industry international standard. TISAX is based on the VDA-ISA catalog, which is modeled after ISO 27001 but is specifically tailored to the requirements of the automotive industry. In addition, TISAX includes specific audit objectives such as prototype protection and data protection. Another difference: TISAX results are not issued as a certificate. They are shared directly with business partners via the ENX platform. For companies in the automotive supply chain, TISAX compliance generally does not fully replace ISO 27001 certification, but it does cover a large portion of the requirements.
