Live presentation: Stayin' Alive – How to make the WAN resilient

Date and time: October 27, 2026 | 2:00–2:15 p.m.

Location: Hall 9, Forum F

Speaker: Holger Hartwig

Resilience is the ability to withstand disruptive events and adverse conditions. More and more organizations are striving to become resilient in order to cope with the ever-present threats they face. To achieve this, critical systems and processes are designed so they can continue operating even when key components fail.

However, organizations often overlook the need to apply the same principles to their underlying infrastructure. The infrastructure itself must be able to function reliably during disruptions and outages to support continued business operations.

For many organizations, the loss of WAN connectivity means a significant loss of productivity or even a complete inability to operate. Relying solely on service availability commitments from network providers is not enough, especially during large-scale incidents when such commitments may no longer be achievable.

A resilient WAN can maintain connectivity between sites even when parts of the network are unavailable or have failed. The technology that enables this capability is known as SD-WAN.

In this session, we will show you how A1 Digital can help enhance resilience at both the application and transport layers, enabling your organization to stay connected and operational when it matters most.

Live presentation: Networking on demand - What you need. "Not what we have."

Date and Time: October 28, 2026 | 12:30-12:45
Location: Hall 9, Forum F
Speaker: Bernd Lohr

Many organizations still follow a traditional approach to WAN modernization: SD-WAN from one vendor, underlay connectivity from a large telecommunications carrier. But is this model still fit for purpose?

In this session, we will explore why global carriers often sell the limits of their own footprint rather than the best available connectivity option for each location. Long provisioning cycles, standardized service offerings, restricted provider choices, and perceived rather than actual redundancy are challenges that increasingly hinder modern, internet-based network architectures.

Through practical examples, you will learn how organizations can improve availability, reduce dependencies, and dramatically accelerate time-to-service by adopting carrier-neutral sourcing strategies, leveraging local best-of-breed connectivity providers, and combining multiple carriers and access technologies.

This presentation is aimed at network architects, IT leaders, and digital transformation decision-makers who want to connect international sites more efficiently, improve resilience, and future-proof their network infrastructure.
