From October 13–15, 2026, Berlin will once again become the meeting point for forward-thinkers shaping the future of digital administration and connected communities. With three days of inspiring keynotes, hands-on workshops, an extensive expo, and countless networking opportunities, the event brings together leaders from government, business, research, and society to exchange ideas and drive real change.

Talk: Sovereign cloud by design: Why Europe's digital future starts right now (in German language)

Abstract: We currently live in a highly advanced digital home. Yet the keys belong to others, the rent keeps rising, and non-compliance may result in a “digital eviction.” Europe is caught in an innovation trap: we consume standardized solutions from overseas while our own digital value creation stagnates and billions are drained away in hidden “technology taxes.” Is Europe’s digital sovereignty nothing more than wishful thinking? Quite the opposite. In this talk, Heiner looks behind the scenes of the global technology stack and reveals a surprising truth: without European high-tech, from laser optics made in Germany to mask writers engineered in Austria, not a single high-end chip would fall off the production line in the US, Israel, or Asia. Europe is not off the map; we have simply forgotten how to put the puzzle pieces together to create a new reality. And sovereignty doesn’t come for free, it needs to be earned.

Dr. Heiner Genzken
Account Manager at A1 DigitalAs an Account Manager at A1 Digital, Heiner Genzken supports customers and partners—primarily within the ecosystem of the sovereign cloud platform Exoscale—with a focus on public sector clients. Genzken began his career at Intel 31 years ago as a Press Officer before transitioning into sales, where he held customer management responsibilities for over 25 years—initially for locally active companies and later for globally operating enterprises. Genzken played a key role in shaping Intel’s data center business from its inception in the mid-1990s through 2025. During his final 10 years at Intel, he established and significantly influenced the company’s Public Sector division in Germany. Genzken now brings this wealth of experience to A1 Digital, aiming to further enhance the cloud provider's success in the German market.
